Lies Technology Told Us: The Big Con
As regular readers know, I have written about my fascination with con artists (“Lessons from the Long Con”, April 1, 2022). The reason con artists interest me is that I don’t understand why people fall for it. But I’m from Missouri; I’m a born skeptic so if it sounds too good to be true, I KNOW it is.

Artificial Intelligence is Blinding Us
Back in the 1980s when the world was fun, there was a great song called “She Blinded Me with Science” by Thomas Dolby. Who’s the Tool?
Everyone is talking about ChatGPT and how it's going to change the world and maybe even break capitalism. Being from Missouri, I have to say I'm a skeptic. Lots of new tools come along and we think it's the best thing since sliced bread or Betty White, depending on your opinion. I like to take my time getting to learn about new tools and products to see what they do and if they actually are going to make things easier or better. This does not make me a Luddite -- it just makes me a person who's had some experience in life.
Put the Human Back in Human Resources
Hiring a new team member is an important decision. There is a certain amount of pressure to make the right choice and find a person who will fit in your team, excel and be happy at their work, and advance the mission of the organization.
