Two former CSEs share their experiences from the not so glamorous side of the C-Suite and the lessons learned from the failures and mistakes.

Many of us aspire to be in the “big chair” but those who haven’t been there don’t realize the many pitfalls, obstacles, and negative tensions that await in the CSE position. Two former CSEs share the not so glamorous side of the C-Suite including what they learned from their failures, doing damage control after mistakes, and dealing with those who don’t support our success. Resilience is important in this position, but the most important lesson is that the CSE (usually) stands alone. We all “talk about failure” but no one REALLY talks about failure. If you are brave enough to walk on the dark side of the C-Suite, join us for a gloves-off discussion of what you really face in the big chair.

What we will cover:

1: Failure is an option. Be prepared to handle it; how to apply, solve, conduct, and continue your career.

2: Not every Board is ready for a professional association executive. Communication strategies to help move the organization forward, critique yourself and demonstrate your value.

3: Knowing you could lose your job at any moment is definitely not the same as actually losing it. Participants will be able to develop coping strategies for dealing with loss; reflecting, being honest with yourself, and executing your next journey.
