Fall 2022 CAE Education Preview!

Rogue Tulips Consulting, through its education arm, The 501c League, is proud to be a leader in CAE education and development. While we can’t guarantee you will pass the exam, we CAN guarantee we will be there for you throughout your CAE Journey and beyond.

This fall we will be back with study groups, courses, practice exams, and coaching for CAE Candidates and current CAEs!

CAE Study Groups | The 501c League is organizing study groups with experienced nonprofit professionals as study group mentors. This 12-week offering brings together CAE candidates to build skills, knowledge, and connections. We have found that working consistently with the same mentor supports better learning outcomes. Study groups will meet the weeks of August 30 – November 17. Fee for entire 12 weeks = $100. Working with a study group that has a CAE mentor qualifies for CAE credit. CAE hours = 12 for real time attendance/participation.

CAE Prime course | Designed for CAE Candidates taking the exam for the first time, this course digs into the content and skills necessary to prepare for the CAE exam. (But everyone is welcome to take this course.) We emphasize how this learning supports your entire career as a nonprofit executive as well as helping you do your best on the exam. Includes an 8-week course (1.5-hour sessions; Course participants purchase textbooks on their own; these do not come with the course. This course offered September 27 – November 29 on Tuesday at 5:30 pm Eastern time. (Course does not meet week of Thanksgiving.)
Fee = $780. CAE hours: 13.5 for real time attendance/participation.

CAE Redux | Designed for CAE candidates who have seen the exam before, all are welcome to participate in this six-week intensive critical thinking skills lab. Course facilitators take a different approach to CAE exam prep by focusing intensely on problem-solving, scenarios, and personal coaching of course participants. This course meets on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm Eastern time for 1.5 hours. This course offered October 12 – November 16. Fee = $350. CAE hours = 9 for real time attendance/participation.

Presented in two 100-question sections (similar to the CAE exam process) you can purchase both sections for $130 or just one for $65 – your choice! We will post our updated practice exam on August 25. While it’s a great practice tool, the practice exam does not qualify for CAE credit. For those current CAEs seeking renewal credits, we have courses for you too:

CAE Refresh | This course is designed for current Certified Association Executives (CAEs) to refresh their knowledge of the 8 Domains of Practice, a review of the new edition of the ASAE Professional Practices in Association Management (PPAM) text (THE textbook for CAEs), and critical thinking and analytical skills that continue to support us throughout our careers. Course participants are encouraged to purchase the PPAM 4th edition. This 8-week course features 1-hour sessions that continue to educate us about and celebrate the CAE designation. This course offered Tuesdays at 12 noon- 1 pm Eastern time September 13 – November 1. Fee = $375. CAE hours = 8 for real time attendance/participation.

The Failed CEO: Lessons from Misadventures in the C-Suite | Thursday, September 22, 2022 | 9:00 am-10:00 am Eastern time | Fee = $45.00 | Many of us aspire to be in the “big chair” but those who haven’t been there don’t realize the many pitfalls, obstacles, and negative tensions that await in the CSE position. Two former CSEs share the not so glamorous side of the C-Suite including what they learned from their failures, doing damage control after mistakes, and dealing with those who don’t support our success. Resilience is important in this position, but the most important lesson is that the CSE (usually) stands alone. We all “talk about failure” but no one REALLY talks about failure. If you are brave enough to walk on the dark side of the C-Suite, join us for a gloves-off discussion of what you really face in the big chair. One (1) CAE Credit – Domain 2 Executive Leadership

The Ethical Nonprofit | Offered once per month! Check our Continuing Education page for dates
Fee = $45 | The 501c League’s real-time online course, The Ethical Nonprofit, is for nonprofit leaders interested in advancing ethical practices. As part of its mission to advocate for high ethical leadership, The 501c League presents this one-hour course to equip association executives and other nonprofit leaders [Volunteers welcome!] with best practices for making ethical decisions. Each year, the League updates its ethics course content. In 2022, this one-hour course will focus on Ethical situations within nonprofit practice using scenarios for discussion. Scenarios are inspired by the CAE Domains of Practice. Earn 1 CAE credit/ethics renewal requirement
